Good times, good times

So, last night was definitely one of the more fun since I've been back from Christmas break. Our original plans from going to see a movie with our RA rapidly changed to going to the Study for Open Mic night, and then the Post for pub night. Dave came over to watch the OC with us before we went out, and after an awesome episode, we were on our way to start the night. First stop: the Study. This has only been our second Open Mic night experience, but we really enjoy going and checking out the talent that our campus has been blessed with (with the exception of a few mind you). The first group that we got to see included this extremely hot guy who looked like Andy Roddick (the tennis player), who played the guitar and sang--their first song was "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice, one of Marya and I's favourite songs! Needless to say, we gave them a HUGE round of applause and I was definitely ready to rape that guy in the corner...LOL. So after a few more sets, Dave started to get antsy, so at 11:00 we decided it was time to head down to the Post. There was a pretty decent line-up to get in at that time too, so we had to wait a little bit, but we got in no problem, and headed right to the bar. My goal was to get drunk, because ever since I've been here, my alcohol tolerance has skyrocketed upwards and alcohol never seems to affect me anymore. I double-fisted all night! Dave was already drunk by the time we got to the Post, mainly from pounding beer at our house and then pounding them back at the Study too, so he was his usual funny crazy drunken self which was awesome. So after sitting for awhile, the DJ started playing some WILD songs (Do Somethin' by Britney Spears is definitely the best!) so me and Marya started dancing. Apparently we should have kept Dave or another guy around us at all times, because we were open season for a guy that has now been nicknamed "Creepy Mark". First I should mention that earlier, Marya had mentioned that this particular guy looked like our FRIEND MarC, and I was like, Ew no way...but anyways, Creepy Mark found his way through the crowd to us, and started dancing with us. We ignored him. He continued dancing. We continued dancing and ignoring him, all the while giving each other funny looks. Finally he stopped dancing, leaned into me and introduced himself. So being as unrude as I could manage, I introduced myself, and he did the same with Marya. Then the same routine started back up: dancing, ignoring...the usual. Dave eventually came back, and Mark left, which was a blessing. However, as soon as Dave left us again, who pops up but our good friend Mark. At this point I was mentioning to Marya how Ozzie (our Austrailian friend) looked like he was picking this annoying broad up, and Mark chimes in with: "Doesn't he have a girlfriend?" So I replied with, "Not that I know of.." and continued silently pleading with Mark to leave us alone, when he comes back with: "I thought he liked guys?" Um, no, definitely not. Then joy of joys, Dave came back and Mark left us alone for the rest of the night. In fact, I do believe he left the Post altogether. The rest of the night was really good, we danced some more, I drank some more, and finally it was time to go. However, we still had to wait for coat check, which was pretty much a solid half hour to 45 minute wait. But we ended up talking to a girl named Abby who actually lives in our building on the second floor I think, and all was good. Then after getting our coats (which involved a lot of pushing and shoving, and having Marya smushed up against me--our "molestation"), Dave and I decided that a smoke would be realllly good, so we joined the crowd of people who were already out there. In doing so, we met a group of guys that were super nice, and we found out they lived in Phase 2, same Phase as Devin and our boys from Sandy Lake 3. On the walk back, me and one of the guys started talking, and I found out he actually used to live in the Soo (didn't get his name tho, so sad)! Small freakin' world. And another of the guys worked construction in the summer in the Soo...his name was Matt. Me and him decided to trade coats for awhile, because he wanted to see if my big suede and fur coat would be warm, so I ended up with his leather jacket for awhile. Then as we were nearing our apartment, they invited us over to their house for a bit, so we took off with them, and had a good time visiting with Matt, Sal, Danny, Dean and the guy who used to live in the Soo (damn I wish I knew his name). So yes, nameless ended up leaving about 3:30am because he had a Chemistry midterm this morning at 8:30am and had to study (that's hardcore--going out before a midterm) and we ended up leaving at around 4:15am. All in all, it was a really good night, and we had the chance to meet a bunch of great people, so I'm definitely looking forward to the next time we can go out like that again!
